Gatlinburg is nicknamed “The Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains” because of its location at the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountain Park on the Tennessee border with North Carolina. It is located 39 miles (64 km) southeast of Knoxville, and 84 miles (135.18 km) from Asheville, NC. The main drag through the city is lined with a variety of restaurants, specialty shops (and outlets), and hotels (both chain and boutique). This beautiful city also boasts of plenty of tourist attractions, museums and three parks–there’s so much to do on your stay that you may have trouble choosing!
